MENGURANGI LONELINESS PADA MAHASISWA PERANTAU: PERAN GROWTH MINDSET DENGAN PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT SEBAGAI MEDIATOR
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peran growth mindset terhadap loneliness dengan perceived social support sebagai mediator pada mahasiswa perantau. Growth mindset merupakan pola pikir yang meyakini bahwa kualitas diri dapat dikembangkan melalui usaha dan bantuan orang lain. Sementara itu, perceived social support merupakan persepsi individu terhadap dukungan sosial yang dirasakan. Perubahan hidup yang terjadi secara signifikan dapat membuat mahasiswa perantau kesulitan untuk membangun relasi baru sehingga mengakibatkan munculnya loneliness. Partisipan pada penelitian ini berjumlah 393 mahasiswa perantau berusia 18-23 tahun dan berdomisi di Jakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah non-probability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling dan snowball sampling dalam teknik pengambilan data. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Carol Dweck’s Growth vs. Fixed Mindset Assessment oleh Diehl (2008), UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 oleh Russel (1996), dan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) oleh Zimet et al. (1988) yang telah ditranslasi ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Analisis data menggunakan metode regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran growth mindset terhadap loneliness dengan perceived social support sebagai mediator (r(393) = -.514 dengan p < .001). Temuan ini juga menunjukkan peran perceived social support adalah sebagai mediator parsial yang hanya menguatkan peran growth mindset terhadap loneliness yang telah signifikan.
