PEMBUATAN KABINET DENGAN DEKORASI TEKNIK MARQUETRY PADA DUN PINTU

Abstract

 

The rapid development of the furniture industry has led to declined of solid wood availabity, necessitating innovation through the use of engineered boards such as medium-density fiberboard (MDF) as a supporting material in furniture manufacturing. However, the less attractive appearance of MDF requires it to be coated using marquetry techniques. Marquetry is a technique that combines cut patterns to form pre-designed images. The chosen marquetry design features geometric shapes with symmetrical sides and angles. The purpose of applying marquetry techniques to the product is to enhance its aesthetic value. Therefore, the application of marquetry techniques was implemented on the cabinet product, specifically on the door section, by understanding and mastering the marquetry manufacturing process. The marquetry production process begins with material selection, image identification to determine grain direction, color, and veneer type, followed by cutting materials according to the shapes, veneer matching, veneer adhesion, and inspection of the adhesion results. The dimensions of the product are 800 mm x 350 mm x 800 mm. The final result on the cabinet features a combination of semi-gloss black and natural matte finishes on the marquetry veneer, giving the product an elegant appearance.
